My huge success with this beautiful fern is I'm afraid, richly undeserved. It is growing (Not without a degree of condescending exuberance.) in the only part of my tropical jungle garden which had never benefitted from my botanical expertise. Indeed, I only noticed it rising out of a cloud of native maiden hair because of the drama unfolding nearby - where a young monitor lizard was taking flying lessons as it attempted to consume a bat twice its size. This Pteris would appear quite precocious as it is attached, via a mat of fine roots, to the top of a volcanic-rock wall high above a raging river - in fabulous equatorial Bali. Here it enjoys gentle air movement, 100% atmospheric humidity, very dappled but bright light, minimal substrate, no fertilising, and 100% free-drainage - combined with moisture on demand from the very porous pumice-type stone it resides upon. Hard to replicate for any length of time indoors in a pot of compost I imagine, but judging from the quality of your other plants, I would say - not impossible.

You have probably rehomed your aloe vera now, but what's worth, mine has been living outside my front door in London, for about 8-10 years (I forget how long ago I bought a rooted pup in my local corner shop). I had to cull the literally dozens of pups growing everywhere in the pot and beyond it a few months ago. They are almost unkillable.

Girl! The fact that you are on the top floor with all those windows…. I know it gets hot!! My last place was a third floor attic style studio and it was boiling!! I live in New Orleans Louisiana! We got up to 107 just a few days ago!

Maybe you can move the bird of paradise into the corner where the monstera is now and then reset the others around that move! I feel it could give you a whole room revamp just by moving one big plant because it’s such a big one and I think it’ll fill that spot out nicely!! ❤

Just an idea that I'm not sure it'll work but could move the sofa in the darker corner over where you have the dining table and your work space? Then you might have more space in front of the light?

You shouldn’t worry about your flat being messy we all have messy rooms. It never looks messy to me life is life know one is perfect and our house’s are not always clean unless we are rich and have a maid which I’m certainly not rich don’t have a maid and my house is messy from time to time
